Paralegals do much of the first-pass work on contracts, and that work stays under a lawyer's supervision. ABA Model Rule 5.3 makes lawyers responsible for supervising nonlawyer assistance, and ABA Formal Opinion 512 (2024) applies those duties to generative AI tools, including reviewing AI output before relying on it. The National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) and the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) publish ethics and professional standards for paralegals. AI review helps with the first pass; the paralegal checks the findings and the attorney makes the call. Yes. AI contract review is a tool for paralegal work, much like a legal research database. The AI identifies clauses and flags issues, the paralegal reviews the findings and prepares summaries, and the supervising attorney stays responsible for the work under the professional conduct rules (ABA Model Rule 5.3). Check your firm's AI policy and your state bar's guidance.

AI identifies key clauses, dates, parties, and obligations quickly, so paralegals spend less time hunting for specific provisions and more time on analysis and summaries.

Justee AI identifies parties, effective dates, termination dates, payment terms, key obligations, notice requirements, governing law, dispute resolution mechanisms, and non-standard clauses. All findings are presented in a summary format for attorney review.

Treat it as a first pass. AI can make mistakes, so Justee shows the clause behind each finding and cites the relevant law, which makes verification quick. Technology competence is increasingly essential for legal professionals. Paralegals who can effectively use AI tools are more productive, handle higher-value work, and are better positioned for career advancement as legal technology becomes standard practice.

Justee covers two legal systems. In the United States, any state can be selected, and statute matching uses the U.S. Code and California codes. Outside the U.S., Justee reviews documents governed by the law of England and Wales. You pick the jurisdictions that apply when you launch the review. Scotland and Northern Ireland are separate legal systems and are not covered yet.

Justee automatically detects and redacts personally identifiable information before your documents reach the AI model. Protected types include:

Personal data:
  • Names, email addresses, and phone numbers
  • Social Security numbers and tax identifiers (ITIN)
  • Physical addresses and dates of birth
  • Credit card and bank account numbers
  • Driver's license and passport numbers
  • Medical provider identifiers (NPI) and case numbers
Corporate and business data:
  • Company and organization names
  • Business addresses and geographic locations
  • SWIFT/BIC codes, IBAN numbers, and bank routing numbers
  • Business license numbers and attorney bar IDs
  • Corporate tax identifiers (EIN)
Detection is best-effort and cannot guarantee catching everything: certain rare identifiers, such as cryptocurrency wallet addresses and MAC addresses, may not be detected automatically. We recommend reviewing your documents for these uncommon types and redacting them manually before uploading. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for details and limitations.

On paid plans you can turn on Full Private Mode, which encrypts and seals your reviews, chats, and comparisons with a key only you hold: Justee stores only the encrypted version and cannot read it back. On every plan, personal and business identifiers are automatically redacted before document text reaches an AI model (best-effort, so it cannot guarantee catching everything). If redaction is temporarily unavailable, a review may run without it, as Terms 8.5 explain. Nothing you submit is used to train AI models.
